TMDHosting VPS Plans & Alternatives

TMDHosting Homepage
TMDHosting has been around for over 10 years and has been considered a reliable choice for those in need of a quality web hosting provider (visit TMDHosting).

TMDHosting offers VPS plans as fully managed services. This approach suits a broader audience, including the less tech-savvy. Since they offer several plans, the upper tiers also cater to more advanced users.

As with all VPS plans, these are highly scalable, and they'll transfer your website and databases for free.

Let’s dive in and look at their plans and pricing:

Who is TMDHosting?

The web hosting service scored high marks in our review due to its fast loading speed and reliable server uptimes. In addition to that, their plans are reasonably priced and they have a great customer support team.

TMD VPS Hosting Pricing and Plans

TMD's VPS plans provide increased resources as you move up in tier. The notable thing is that their plans are priced differently depending on the hosting region you choose. That disadvantages TMDHosting if you need to cater to a certain audience.

Their VPS Hosting plans is separated into five different tiers: Starter, The Original, Smart, eCommerce, and Super Powerful.

Best TMDHosting VPS Alternatives

TMD VPS offerings are considered as one of the top-rated VPS hosting in the market – you can compare these plans with others in the article. If these plans confuse or don’t suit your needs, consider one of their many formidable TMDHosting alternatives instead;

1. A2 Hosting

A2 Hosting VPS

Website: https://www.a2hosting.com/ Price: From $4.99/mo

Known as Iniquinet in 2001, A2 Hosting came into being two years later in 2003. Since then, the company has been making positive news in the hosting industry and enjoys an excellent rating of 5/5 on average from over 67,388 customers.

Their data centers are in the US, Europe, and Asia – an adequate global coverage. They have shared hosting, WordPress, VPS, managed hosting solutions, and more.

Comparing A2 Hosting vs TMDHosting

Speed and performance are crucial for any web hosting solution. A2 Hosting has invested in its solutions by equipping them with super-fast NVMe SSD storage. A2 Hosting also offers Turbo Servers (claimed to produce 20 times faster speeds). However, you will have to pay more to enjoy these blazing speeds.

Whether you’re tech-savvy or not, there will come a time when you will need some help. To date, there are 1,674 reviews on Trustpilot, and A2 Hosting secured an “Excellent” rating. This high regard speaks volumes of their quality customer support team.

There are many panel offerings on the table with A2 Hosting. You can choose cPanel, WHM, Webuzo, Plesk, or others. The important part is that A2 Hosting provides easy installation for these, even on their unmanaged VPS plans.

A2 Hosting VPS Pricing

A2 Hosting’s fully managed VPS plans start at $39.99/month; it may seem pricey at first glance, but this fee comes with free goodies such as SSL, site transfer, and cPanel, which is appealing. Additionally, it offers the option for unmanaged VPS starting from a mere $4.99/mo, which is dirt-cheap.

2. Cloudways

Cloudways

Website: https://www.cloudways.com/ Price: From $12/mo

Although relatively new to the hosting market, Cloudways knows how to push all the right buttons with their Cloud solutions. Since 2011, Cloudways has been actively getting people onto the ‘Cloud’ via their unique offerings. They aren’t the usual web hosting provider. Instead, Cloudways act as a systems integrator by offering various Cloud Platforms.

Comparing Cloudways vs TMDHosting

The solutions that Cloudways offers vary depending on the Cloud platform you choose. The speed and performance are very much Cloud platform dependent (Digital Ocean, Linode, VULTR, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform) and not so much on Cloudways.

Cloudways stands out in its varied platform options and powerful add-ons such as service migrations, an integrated dashboard (robust enough to suit users with different skill sets), unlimited application installations, advanced cache optimization, auto-healing, HTTP/2 Enabled Servers, and more.

My take is that if your website is expanding and you foresee a strong uptake in traffic in the future, Cloudways could be a better choice, especially since there’s so much breadth in scalability.

Cloudways Pricing

Cloudways plans come with varied pricing, depending on the Cloud platform. However, Digital Ocean and Linode are cheap at $12/month. These two infrastructure providers can be an excellent budget choice if you're starting on the Cloud.

3. Interserver

Interserver vps

Website: https://www.interserver.net/ Price: From $6/mo

In 1999, InterServer was co-founded by Mike Lavrik and John Quaglieri. Headquartered in New Jersey, InterServer is widely known as a budget-friendly hosting provider. Their offerings cover cloud VPS, shared, dedicated, colocation hosting, and others.

Comparing Interserver vs TMDHosting

Perhaps what stands out most at Interserver is getting all the goodies at such low prices. Their registered speeds are blazing fast, 99.9% uptime guarantee, and what better than enjoying no extended lock-in for low fees for their Cloud VPS hosting? Yes, you pay by the month, and you can stop anytime you want.

Also, Interserver’s Cloud VPS boasts self-healing hardware. If there’s a fault, the AI system activates and automatically redirects to another workable node. They also offer a solid platform with trusted technologies, including KVM, Openvz, Virtuozzo, and Hyper-v.

Another thing that stands out here is their 100% in-house support team. If you need help, you can be sure you don’t get diverted to a call center outside the country. Incidentally, they operate data centers exclusively in Los Angeles and New Jersey.

Interserver VPS Pricing

Interserver’s Cloud VPS plans are flexible and cheap, from as low as $6/month. You purchase more slices when you need to – four slices or more to a managed VPS service. I reckon that Interserver’s prices are competitive for a managed cloud VPS plan.

 4. ScalaHosting

Scalahosting VPS

Website: https://www.scalahosting.com/ Price: From $29.95/mo

Established in 2007, ScalaHosting is one of the most recognized hosting providers in the industry. The company was co-founded by Vladislav Georgiev, Hristo Rusev, and Lyubomir Lyubenov. ScalaHosting has secured more than 50,000 customers, and over 700,000 websites use their solutions.

Comparing ScalaHosting vs TMDHosting

Like Cloudways, both the speed and performance of your Cloud VPS hosting with ScalaHosting depend on the Cloud platform you choose (ScalaHosting, Digital Ocean, or AWS). You get unmetered bandwidth with ScalaHosting as the infrastructure provider.

ScalaHosting constantly innovates its solutions to cater to people’s needs. Their SPanel VPS, a proprietary dashboard that helps manage your VPS hosting, is a good example. You get SPanel for free with all the managed VPS plans.

SPanel is intuitive and flexible enough for users across the board – agencies, developers, and others. Also, SPanel is compatible with cPanel and does not run on your server. Hence, many have leaned towards SPanel.

SShield, which ScalaHosting claims to fend off 99.998% of attacks, constantly protects your website. Also, SWordPress Manager is a management utility tool that helps manage your WordPress hosting.

ScalaHosting VPS Pricing

ScalaHosting's Managed VPS hosting comes cheapest at $29.95/month, which may seem pricey at first glance. However, there are tons of goodies included, such as website migration, SPanel, SShield, HTTP/3 support, free SSL, and more.

5. Bluehost

BlueHost VPS Hosting

Website: https://www.bluehost.com/ Price: From $19.99/mo

Based in Utah, the US, Bluehost was founded by Matt Heaton and Danny Ashworth. Bluehost supports over two million websites across the globe. Bluehost offers WordPress, shared, VPS, dedicated hosting solutions, domains, and others.

Comparing Bluehost vs TMDHosting

Bluehost servers run on high-performance SSDs, offering fast loading speeds. It also boasts an excellent average uptime above 99.95%. Unlike TMDHosting, their VPS offering isn’t on the Cloud. That said, here, you get full root access.

TMDHosting and Bluehost include cPanel/WHM panels in their VPS plans. However, Bluehost goes the extra mile and offers their Bluehost control panel. The interface is a little different from cPanel, but you’ll get used to it in no time as it is user-friendly and makes for easy navigation. It is also cPanel-compatible.

There are loads of tutorials and self-help articles/videos available online. Hence, Bluehost is suitable for first-timers. Bluehost also comes with a recommendation from WordPress.org – one of only three service providers with this privilege.

Bluehost VPS Pricing

Bluehost VPS plans start at $19.99/month, which may not be cheap compared to others. That said, they aren’t that pricey given what you get. However, if you own a WordPress site, Bluehost could do justice for you.

6. HostPapa

HostPapa VPS

Website: https://www.hostpapa.com/ Price: From $19.99/mo

In 2006, Hostpapa was founded by Jamie Opalchuk, and its base is in Ontario, Canada. They have been 100% green since inception and, since 2010, is Better Business Bureau accredited with an A+. The company has over 200,000 customers on their shared, VPS, reseller, and WordPress hosting plans.

Comparing HostPapa vs TMDHosting

In the past, HostPapa hasn’t always been top-notch in terms of server performance. That said, they have improved their uptime and performance since then, which is impressive. HostPapa’s VPS is also eCommerce optimized.

Like other VPS offerings, HostPapa comes with guaranteed dedicated resources and scales up as you need, which is pretty standard. However, what makes HostPapa stand out is its dedication to being eco-friendly; they purchase renewable energy to power its servers and offices. Hence, if you’re an advocate for going green, HostPapa is your choice.

HostPapa provides cPanel to help manage your server. Also, your VPS plans get blacklist-free IPs. And, should you hit an issue, HostPapa’s live chat support team is responsive and helpful. Their VPS support team is award-winning and 24/7 via telephone, email, and online chat in English, French, Spanish, and German.

Unlike TMDHosting with data centers in Asia, Europe, and the US, HostPapa’s data centers are in the US and Europe. If your targeted market is not in Asia, you could find HostPapa to your liking.

Learn more in our HostPapa review.

HostPapa VPS Pricing

HostPapa VPS plans start at $19.99/month. The good news is that renewal is also at the same lower price, unlike most others that renew at the original pricing, which is much higher. Four VPS plans allow you room to grow.

There are three management plan types – self-managed, managed, and fully managed which are self-explanatory. I like that they give you this flexibility, and you renew at the same initial lower price. So, if you’re a strong advocate of going ‘green’ and your audience is mostly not in Asia, HostPapa is a solid choice.

Final Thoughts

Each alternative to TMDHosting listed above is a solid global performer as a reliable hosting provider in the hosting community. They each have their strengths capable of beating other competitors. So, take your time and explore them carefully, as landing on the right one for you is key to your business success.

However, don’t get me wrong. Just because there are excellent alternatives to TMDHosting doesn’t mean it isn’t a fantastic host. Its VPS plans are still highly recommended for those who need more power right from the start.
